That sounded promising right up until it said that is is rumored to be going into "a hydrogen-electric vehicle with a rotary range-extending engine." If it is going to just be a range extender, you can color me uninterested.

Why not both?
With Toyota making sports cars and wacky concepts, Mazda can't hide behind the MX-5. I hope they do another RX model. But a rotary engine is pretty much perfect as a range extender because it's small, compact, light, smooth and very frugal when at a constant RPM.

Presuming Mazda really does have a new rotary powered car in development, considering how much Mazda lost on the RX-8, I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't released in the USA.
